General Information
Student must
be 15 years old by the beginning of the Class. The credited
driver's education course will be offered two times during
the year. The next credit course will begin in February.
Classroom training is held on Tuesdays and Thursdays for
90 minutes each day directly after school at SMA.
- REQUIREMENTS:
- Student
must complete the 4 hour Drug,
Alcohol, Traffic Education Course.
- Student
must have in their possession a Learner's License
by the end of the 1st week of class.
- No Sandals
(closed toe, closed heel shoes only), No hats, No
Food. Cell phones or Ipods must be turned off during
driving instruction.
- Enroll
through the Guidance Office.
- THE
.5 CREDIT AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM WILL PROVIDE:
- Academic
Credit and Grade.
- 30 Hours
of Classroom instruction.
- 6 Hours
of Behind the Wheel instruction.
- Preparation
for the State of Florida road test.
- Upon
completion - each student will receive an insurance
certificate for the purpose of insurance discounts.
- THE
NON-CREDIT AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM WILL PROVIDE:
- 6 Hours
of Classroom instruction.
- Approximately
8 driving sessions after school over a 2 1/2 week
period OR 6 Saturday sessions.
- 6 Hours
of Observation.
- Preparation
for the State of Florida road test.
- Upon
completion - each student will receive an insurance
certificate for the purpose of insurance discounts.
- SUMMER
SCHOOL PROGRAM:
FREE COUNTY PROGRAM!
- Offered
during summer break (two sessions Monday through Thursday).
- Offered
at 4 High Schools with 2 - 12 day sessions.
- Must attend
Mandatory Orientation.
- Driving
times assigned at Orientation.
- Each student
assigned a 90 minute driving time between 8:00
- 4:00 (ending).
- 6 Hours
of Behind the Wheel instruction only.
- Preparation
for the State of Florida road test.
- Upon completion
- each student will receive an insurance certificate
for the purpose of insurance discounts.
Note: failure to
complete required hours of instruction will result in no certificate
being issued. |
